G.A.N.G. Post #6 – You got items!

GM’s NOTE: Character sheets will take a little more time.

The old man took in all these requests and disappeared into collection of things.  Over the next hour, you here the opening and closing of many doors, the rummaging through many things, and the delighted chuckles and seemingly absent-minded comments as he fills as much of the orders as he can.  At last he returns, but only with a simple bag for each person.

As he hands out the bags, he explains, “These bags of holding are special in that they are linked to each other.  Any of you can store unneeded items into your bags, and anybody can retrieve anything that has been stored in these bags.  If you want something for a more private collection, I suggest finding your own private bag of holding.”

The party can now access the Inventory!

“In fact, if you look inside, you can find many of the things you requested.”

The old man continued.  “The things you requested that you did not recieve, you will have to look for an earn on your own, as the heros before you have done.  It’s sort of a tradition, you might say.  Can’t be off saving the world without some difficulty.

“And now, I believe we have a newcomer.”  The old man points to an average guy towards the back holding a red chapeau with a white feather sticking out of it.  The man didn’t have anything that distinguished himself from anybody else.  Brown hair, brown eyes, slightly tan skin from many days of travel.  Nobody knew when he came in and for how long he was there, but it was a good bet he meant to join this group.

“I apologize for not having introduced myself when I came in.  I am Nevic Errilyn, a man of little import.  I saw this place last night and came in whilst you were having dinner, then proceeded to lose myself among your artifacts, where I feel asleep during the night.  When I woke up, I found this curious little hat.  Please, tell me the story behind it.”

Red humbly accepts the provisions and waits in anticipation for things to come.

Anhaga snorted a little, and said, “Well, I’ve got what I wanted. It’s almost as good as hemlock.”

Tal thanked the old man profusely while he perused his new linked bag of holding and it’s contents. Greatly satisfied, he decided to meet the newcomer, and perhaps find out why the silly human had chosen a hat as his one item. “Humans;” the dwarf mused, “The shortest-lived race, yet they make the most interesting choices on how to spend their century or so of life.”

Noddle thanked the nice nameless old man then proceeded to his pack with glee. The old guy went through the list quite dutifully. He found the things he really wanted in there. Noddle pulled out the smallest set of leather armor, the short sword and dagger, along with the accompanying scabbards and harnesses then set these aside. He unrolled the leather carrying case for the thieves tools. Pulling out each tool, he appraised their quality. These weren’t the best he’d ever seen, but they weren’t shoddy either. He rolled the thieves tools up and returned them to the bag. The short bow provided for him had a good pull on it. He wouldn’t be able to hold the pull forever, but for as long as he needed to aim it properly. The camp supplies were there, from the cooking utensils to the bed rolls. He even wafted each of the different potions to check and learn each of them.
He managed to find the slingshot. He hadn’t used one of these since he was a gnomeling Why would the elf with a bow actually request such a thing? It sounded so halfling-ish. Although, slingshots are quite good for mischief. It serves well as a tool for distracting others. That’s about it though. Who knows? It may hold a purpose yet.
After putting everything else back, he went to the items he set aside. Noddle slipped the leather armor over his head. After some adjusting of the straps and buckles, it fit quite well. Next, came the belt and dagger. He affixed the dagger behind his back and level with his waist. . This made it easy for a left-handed draw. The short sword he harnessed across his back so that the handle stuck out over his right shoulder. With his right arm, he reached above his shoulder and drew the sword mostly out of the scabbard. It was a good sign. He would be able to draw the sword completely and the scabbard would stay close to his back without moving too much. He needed this to happen. It’s really hard to crawl into tight spaces with scabbards dangling off of you. Next came the Mysterious Cloak he was given. He threw it around his shoulders tying it loosely in front of his chest. It wasn’t rainy or cold outside so it didn’t need to be tight. He adjusted the hood so that he could cover his head and still be able to draw the short sword. It must be an amusing image, he thought. Imagine, a gnome with a sword handle sticking out behind his head. It presented him as someone with a hint of potential danger. The dagger was well hidden, yet easily accessible. His experience taught him well that the smallest of things may be the most dangerous.
The bag of holding fit adequately over his shoulders. It wouldn’t be too wearisome to carry over a days travel. Noddle walked in small circles getting used to the armor, weapons, the the bag of holding. A bit unusual, but it felt good to be prepared for the dangers both known and unknown.

“With the small exception of when our next meal may occur, I’m ready to go. I don’t like to start a journey hungry if I can help it. Of course, I will wait until our new companion is ready. The story surrounding that hat should be reason enough to linger a few moments longer.”

Would it help if we differentiate in character and out of character responses by what name with type in as the “replier?” Also, let me know if my post from Noddle didn’t go through and I’ll repost it.
